Ice Out, Mergansers In

The ice is mostly off of Lake Nokomis, so I snuck out to see what was on the water and was rewarded with Hooded, Common and Red-breasted mergansers. Lake Nokomis is surprisingly good for migrant loons and grebes, but nothing like that out there today. Still, it's nice to see the ice coming off the lake.

EDIT - a mid-afternoon stop back revealed one Common loon at Lake Nokomis as well. This might just be the first loon of 2009 on Lake Nokomis. Heh heh heh....
